10 Ways to Make Sure You Never Get Locked Out
It happens to everyone sooner or later. You will find yourself locked out of your car or house. Here, I'm going to give the best 10 ways on how to make sure it won't happen to you.
1. Give a spare key to a family member, friend, or neighbor you trust.
2. Always carry extra key with you.
3. Install keypad outside of your garage. When you need a key, you can open the garage and get the key.
4. Do not trust electronic keypad locks. Always keep a key because when the battery dies, you will get locked out. If not, replace the battery at least once a year.
5. Put your keys in a lock box and hide it somewhere.
6. Keep a spare key for your house in your car.
7. Always make sure your locks are working good smoothly. If not, replace them (It's cheaper than calling a locksmith).
8. If your workplace is close to your house, keep a key there.
9. Install a door combination lock (not electric). If you lose your keys, all you have to do is remember the combination.
10. Attach your keys to keychain.
6 Things Not to Do
1. Hide your key under the mat.
2. Hide your spare key in a mailbox.
3. Hide the key anywhere close to your house.
4. Do not leave any door or window unlocked.
5. Don't hide the key in a fake rock.
6. Do not install keyless locks or keypads because when the battery dies, you will be locked out (As a locksmith, I have a lot of locked out calls about this).
If You're Locked Out...
1. Try to find an unlocked door or window
2. If you have little child and a pet door, they can go in and unlock the door for you.
3. If you are renting a house, call the Landlord. He or she may have a key.
4. If it's a doorknob, try to push a plastic card (credit card) through.
5. Call a neighbor for help.
6. If the key turns, go to the closest store and buy WD40.
7. If you still didn't find a way in, call a local locksmith. Look at Google or Yelp reviews to find the most recommended locksmith in your city.
